Apple's mixed-reality headset is reportedly delayed until WWDC 2023 in June

The announcement of Apple's mixed-reality headset has been pushed back once again - this time to the company's Worldwide Developers Conference event. 

That's according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, at least, who now suggests that Apple will unveil the VR/AR headset in June, as opposed to a dedicated springtime event in April.

Of course, this isn't the first time we've heard of a reported delay. Back in December, Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo indicated that the actual shipping and release date of the headset - dubbed 'Apple Reality Pro' - had been pushed back into the second half of 2023.

Aside from that, obviously, we've heard consistent rumblings of an Apple mixed-reality product launch for at least the last three years - and yet still nothing has come to light. 

Gurman notes in his latest report that the delay is due to continued hardware and software issues, though the plan is still to put the device - rumored to cost close to $3,000 - later this year. 

Apple hasn't yet announced an official date for WWDC 2023, though it typically falls over a multi-day period in the second week of June. It's not typically a place for hardware announcements, as the name would suggest, though it has seen the odd notable unveiling over the past half-decade. 

In 2020, Apple detailed its transition to Apple Silicon, and 2017 saw the original Apple HomePod surface. 

Whether WWDC 2023 proves to be the event Apple will make its next big unveiling remains to be seen, of course, and we have a feeling this won't be the last twist in the tale.
