The moment has finally come - Apple has announced that its long-awaited Vision Pro headset will launch on 2 February, with pre-orders beginning on 19 January.
First unveiled at last June's WWDC event following years of speculation, the VR headset (or 'spatial computer', as Apple calls it) will be available to buy in the US from next month. Yet, it's still not clear when it will arrive in other countries, such as the UK or Canada.
When announcing the availability of the upcoming $3,499 headset, the Cupertino giant also revealed for the first time that users will have to pay extra for the optional Zeiss prescription lenses.
The Zeiss 'Optical Inserts' that magnetically attach to Vision Pro are available as readers ($99) or prescription lenses ($149), which, while a bit of a shame, is tempered slightly by the fact Apple is including a $19 polishing in the box. So, every cloud.

In the Vision Pro's box will be two straps - the Solo Knit Band and Dual Loop Band, pictured above - as well as the device's 'Light Seal' and a pair of cushions. The external battery and charging cable are included in the 256GB base model's kit, too - plus that polishing cloth we just mentioned.
Whether that's enough to convince the expectant tech community to part with $3,499 remains to be seen, but, regardless, it's a fascinating product to watch develop.
Apple has so far showcased the headset's visionOS as an extension of Apple apps like FaceTime and Photos, though the impressive specs - including a 4K resolution for each eye and the ability to switch between VR and AR - ensure that the possibilities are relatively endless with Vision Pro.
Those possibilities can be unlocked for the masses (in the US) from 2 February.
