Apple is developing an AI health coach that will harness data from the Apple Watch to help deliver personalized suggestions and programs for diet, sleep, and exercise.
That's according to a new report from Bloomberg, which suggests that the project - codenamed 'Quartz' - will land as a paid-for service at some point in 2024.
It will reportedly be separate from the Apple Fitness+ app, with multiple teams internally working on the project ahead of the potential release date next year.
"The new coaching service - codenamed Quartz - is designed to keep users motivated to exercise, improve eating habits and help them sleep better, according to people with knowledge of the project," the report notes.
"The idea is to use AI and data from an Apple Watch to make suggestions and create coaching programs tailored to specific users.”
As well as being separate from the company's own fitness class service, the Quartz app will also stand alone from the Apple Health app, which is also rumored to begin incorporating a new journal feature.
According to Bloomberg, the Apple Health app will soon ask users to input their mood and answer questions relating to their day in order to spot trends over time - kind of like we're seeing with Whoop's new Insights feature.
At this stage, this appears likely to land as part of iOS 17 and watchOS 10, with Quartz, as we say, slated to arrive next year, instead.
We should see all the latest Apple software developments at WWDC 2023 in early June, so stay tuned for all the new features - and potentially the Apple mixed-reality headset unveiling.
