Update: The Garmin Instinct 2X is now official – check out our full review.
Images have leaked of a supersized Garmin Instinct 2X Solar, as it looks like Garmin is close to adding another device to its growing Instinct range.
We reported the existence of the Garmin Instinct 2X Solar in March, but now images have been revealed by the German tech site WinFuture.
It certainly retains the core values of the Instinct 2 design – unlike the recent Instinct Crossover – and still makes use of the inset screen.
We’re treated to two colors – orange and back – and it’s clear that the torch feature is coming over from the Fenix 7X – which helps users to light their way in the dark, but also works as an excellent safety feature for night-time adventures.

The Instinct 2X Solar is expected to have a 57mm case size, which is significantly larger than the existing 45mm Instinct 2.
And it will retain the five hardware buttons that Garmin included in the Instinct 2 series. The Instinct 2X will come with MiP displays.
That means it won’t receive the AMOLED display that Garmin has been rolling out via the Epix, and Forerunner 965 and 265 this year.
The Instinct 2 Solar promised infinite battery life with three hours of sunlight exposure – and with the added case size, we should see even more from the Instinct 2X Solar.
The watch will also be water resistant to 100 meters and will feature an integrated LED flashlight.
The color and brightness of the flashlight will be adjustable. Unfortunately, pricing and availability details are still unknown.
