Google is set to offer the Pixel Watch 3 in two different case sizes, meaning the smartwatch may finally be a more palatable option for those with bigger wrists.
That's the word from 9to5Google, at least, who suggest that Google will spice things up for the third-gen device - and may offer a larger equivalent to the current 41mm design.
Information is pretty much limited to just that scrap, however.
The "source familiar with the matter" referenced by 9to5Google hasn't revealed to the outlet just how big the additional case size will be - or whether Google is planning a complete rethink on Pixel Watch case sizes.
For example, Google could tank the current 41mm case size and launch two all-new options for the Pixel Watch 3 - akin to what we've seen from Apple (41mm and 45mm), Samsung (40mm and 44mm), and others.
The report also suggests that general functionality, at least at this stage, is expected to be identical between the two case sizes - except for the fact that the larger of the two may house a slightly bigger battery.
Wareable
Given one of our biggest complaints with the Pixel Watch 2 was the lack of case size options, this is very welcome news - and something we suspect will pique the interest of those who have so far discounted the Google smartwatch as a legitimate option.
It was a bit of a surprise to see Google ignore fairly widespread calls for a larger case option after the debut Pixel Watch, so, naturally, it feels almost certain we see one launch this time around.
Considering the smartwatch line already features stellar heart rate tracking, growing Fitbit integration an increasingly confident Wear OS 4 platform, the Pixel Watch 3 is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated wearables of the year.
We have many months to wait before a potential announcement, though, so stay tuned for more whispers and rumors in the meantime.
