Mobvoi's next smartwatch appears to be drawing closer to release, with an uncovered FCC filing potentially pointing to the arrival of the TicWatch Pro 5.

It's not the first indication we've seen regarding the company's next device, of course. Last year, as part of the Snapdragon W5+ announcement, TicWatch began teasing a smartwatch that would run on the Qualcomm platform and launch before the end of 2022.

That launch never happened. However, after TicWatch Pro 5 renders also emerged last month, we now have this FCC filing to draw on.

It denotes a device with the model number WH12088 - one that features a 50mm case width (including the crown) and 12.4mm thickness.

And even based on that limited info, it would appear to fit the profile for Mobvoi's next watch. After all, the current flagship, the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS, comes with a 47mm case size - and this unknown device should sit around the same when the crown is taken off that 50mm measurement.

It should also come with a mammoth 611mAh battery - for reference, this is bigger than the 590mAh unit inside the Samsung Galaxy Watch Pro 5 - while the software version 'RMDB.220901.00A' points to Android 11 and Wear OS 3

If true, it would become the first TicWatch to receive the privilege of running the latest Google software - a disappointment given that it's been over 18 months since the platform was given a makeover.

Given that FCC filings usually surface just before an announcement, we'd guess that we don't have much longer to wait. However, given Mobvoi's recent history of releases, nothing is certain just yet.
