Samsung may be on the cusp of a surprise return to the world of fitness trackers, with a leaked render showing off what appears to be the Galaxy Fit 3.

The company hasn't released an activity tracker since the Galaxy Fit 2 way back in 2020, and has since been preoccupied with Google in relaunching Wear OS through the Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6 lineups.

Now, though, its attention could be shifting back toward the Galaxy Fit line.

That's if the information from WindowsReport is anything to by, at least, with the outlet showing off an exclusive look at the fitness band and sharing some faint details relating to specs.

Most evident is the redesign of the potential tracker, with the report indicating that the display size will be increasing from the 1.1-inch AMOLED screen present on the Galaxy Fit 2.

The wider body of the tracker is also much more akin to something like the Fitbit Charge 6 or Xiaomi Mi Band 8 Pro, though, naturally, it's expected that it will still be much smaller than a traditional smartwatch.

In other images, the Galaxy Fit 3 also appears to feature a singular side button, as well as a basic-looking heart rate sensor setup. It's possible Samsung will include something like temperature tracking here, as well as blood oxygen saturation monitoring (SpO2) - neither of which were offered on the Galaxy Fit 2.

And that's just the hardware. We still have no information regarding the operating system for the upcoming Fit 3, and there's a (very small) chance that it could even feature a stripped-back version of Wear OS.

It's more likely Samsung will continue with its proprietary fitness tracker software, but, as we say, the details of this are still unknown.

With Samsung expected to announce the Galaxy S24 smartphone in January, however, and potentially set to tack on the Galaxy Fit 3, we may not have long to wait.

Stay tuned for more information over the coming weeks - we expect more concrete information will filter out between now and that likely January announcement date.
