Samsung has teased the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Ring at its Unpacked event in San Jose.
In scenes reminiscent of the “one more thing” days of Apple, the company saved a teaser of its smart ring for the end of its Galaxy S24 event.
The brief teaser video showed off the design of the ring, which looks sleek and rounded…and very much like a ring.
There are zero details on a release date or how much it might cost – but we did get a brief feel of some of the features.
It was described as a “powerful and accessible” health and wellness device.
Samsung
We’ve already covered extensive rumors about the Galaxy Ring, and it certainly felt it was when, not if, Samsung would enter the fray.
Samsung trademarked the name back in 2023, and documents revealed that it would feature not only health tracking but also elements of smart home control.
Smart rings have taken off in the past year, with incumbent Oura facing competition from the likes of Ultrahuman, Ringconn, as well as Evie Ring, and the Amazfit Helio, both of which were unveiled at CES.
Samsung isn’t the first major player to enter. Amazon launched its Echo Loop back in 2020 which was a flop and later canceled.
But it’s the first of this new era of interest in the segment, which is estimated to be worth over $1bn by 2030.
All eyes will now be on a full launch, which may be around the Galaxy Watch schedule in August.
