Cyber Monday deals 2020: Garmin, Fitbit and Samsung wearable deals

Cyber Monday is GO, and there some epic last minute fitness tracker and smartwatch deals to be had.

If you're hunting for Apple Watch and Fitbit discounts, then it's not too late.

Read on for the early deals and some important information on Cyber Monday shopping you need to be aware of.

But first things first, on with the deals.

Apple Watch Series 6 (40/44mm)

If you want those big health features, the Series 6 discount on Amazon will be of serious interest.

That will bag you a 40mm for $349.99 (save $50) and a 44mm for $379.99 (save $50).

Those are prices on an aluminum case in all colors, including the brand new blue, and (PRODUCT) RED. Space Gray and silver are also available.

Of course, you get ECG and SpO2 and an always on display – none of which are available on the Apple Watch SE.

However, stock isn't expected until 17 January so you'll have to play the long game for this deal.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2

And Amazon is selling the Galaxy Watch Active 2 for , making it one of the star deals of the Black Friday weekend.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 now boasts fall detection, VO2 max, running coach and running dynamics – all of which have been ported over from the company’s flagship Galaxy Watch 3.

What’s more, add to that ECG and blood pressure that are also on board – and what we have is an extremely powerful smartwatch.

Fitbit Sense - Save $50

We half expected Fitbit to go hard on one of its new smartwatches - and it's the Fitbit Sense health watch that breaks cover first. Amazon has it at $279.99, down $50 from its $329.99 price tag.

That's a great price, given the ECG, EDA stress sensor and temperature monitor that make it pretty unique as a health device. That's on top of GPS, Fitbit's excellent sleep monitoring and smartwatch features too.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 has got a Black Friday weekend price cut to $369.99 (save $60), taking Samsung's flagship to its lowest price ever. It was only launched back in October, so it's unlikely we'll see it fall much lower.

It's one of the best smartwatches on the market, especially for Android smartphone users. With ECG, blood pressure tracking it's a powerful health device, and it's a great smartwatch to boot with offline Spotify support. It's damned good looking, too.

Amazfit GTS

We loved the GTS – a sports and health focused budget smartwatch that got so much right. With GPS and Pai health score on board it’s much more powerful than it’s meagre price. In the wake of the GTS 2, the original falls to $99 for Cyber Monday. It comes recommended.

Garmin Forerunner 45

The Forerunner 45 is our pick of the best running watch, and Amazon now has it at its lowest ever price. It's been fixed at $199 for most of the year, but it's now got a $50 discount, to a tantalizing $149.99.

We love the thin, light build quality - and it's unencumbered by bells and whistles. Easy to use, easy to read - and it won't let you down. The data is more basic than, say, a Forerunner 245 but you do get VO2 max tracking in Garmin Connect, on top of pace, distance and heart rate zones.

Garmin Forerunner 645 Music

The Garmin Forerunner 645 Music is a top running watch and offers runners a huge array of data and insights into your performance and recovery. Training Effect, Training Status and VO2 Max play a large part of the Forerunner 645’s metrics, and it will help you learn when to push your sessions and when to step off.

It’s been around a while so the 50% price drop advertised by Amazon is certainly misleading. But $219 is a super-low price, having spent much of 2020 around $269.

Garmin Fenix 6 Pro

Garmin’s flagship device gets a $150 discount to $549 – which is still a huge amount of cash, but you get one of the best outdoor fitness devices going.

But you get an insane list of tracked sports, biometric insights into Training Effect, recovery and VO2 Max and a host of battery and power-saving modes that push up detailed GPS tracking above 40 hours.

Samsung Gear Fit2

A modest discount brings the excellent Fit2 into the sub-$50 fitness tracker bracket, at $10 off the MSRP. It’s a good, well-made band with a great screen and capable of tracking steps, heart rate and it’s decent in the pool as well. However, consider the bigger deals on the Amazfit Band 5 or Fitbit Charge 4.

Fossil Gen 5 Carlyle/Julianna

Fossil watches always get big discounts around Black Friday, but this deal on the latest Gen 5 stands out at $179. They’ve been dancing around the $199 mark on Amazon all year.

Fossil Gen 5 devices enjoy the latest hardware features and best in class performance – and if you’re looking for something with a bit of bling, this pair of 44mm Wear OS watches deliver.

Garmin Instinct

The Garmin Instinct is a dark horse in the company’s smartwatch, offering the longevity and outdoors features of the Fenix range, for far less money.

You don’t get the full range of sports (but there’s running, swimming and hiking), nor the deep performance insights. But it brings features like UltraTrac that offers 40 hours GPS tracking, to a sub $150 price point. We love the rugged design, too. This is a genuine deal.

Garmin Vivoactive 4S

Garmin’s more unisex sporty smartwatch, the Vivoactive 4S, has also got a discount on Amazon. It’s down to its lowest price of $248.99.

The 4S has flirted around the £279 mark this year, but this is a modest saving. But there’s nothing modest about the excellent Vivoactive 4 which comes rammed with sports tracking profiles and smarts – and the Vivoactive 4S does it all in a 40mm package.

When is Cyber Monday 2020?

Cyber Monday 2020 this year falls on 30 November. It is guaranteed to bring discounts on smartwatches from every brand, including Apple, Samsung, Fossil, Fitbit and Garmin.

Where will I find Cyber Monday smartwatch deals?

Pretty much all of the big retailers are sure to get involved for Cyber Monday 2020. Amazon will certainly be up there on both sides of the pond.

Stateside, the likes of Walmart, Best Buy and Target always drop lots of electronics deals, including plenty of smartwatches and fitness trackers.

The UK will see retailers such as Argos, John Lewis and Currys PC World being good places to consider, alongside other online stores like Very.

Amazon Cyber Monday smartwatch deals

One advantage Amazon might have over other retailers is if you're an Amazon Prime member. That expedited delivery is great news for anyone particularly impatient.

The good news is that if you're not already a member, you can take out a tactical 30-day free trial to see you through the Cyber Monday sales. You can cancel at any time before the 30 days are up but Amazon is hoping you'll get hooked on all of the perks alongside faster delivery.

What Cyber Monday smartwatch deals should I avoid?

The one thing to keep in mind is that you should stick to reputable retailers. There's a big temptation to look at grey importers shipping out of Hong Kong and China, as these can have some seriously low prices.

The problem with grey imports is that the warranty might not be valid for the territory where it's been imported, so you might run into problems down the line.

You also might run into other issues like not getting the same accessories, such as chargers, that you would when buying a local version.

You can also face long delivery times and possibly customs charges once the package arrives at its destination, adding in hidden charges.

If you're ever in doubt, it's probably a good idea to purchase on a credit card if it has any kind of purchase protection. That way your credit card provider can step in for any disputes.

How will I know I'm getting a good deal for Cyber Monday?

First off, we're only going to be highlighting the deals you really need to be aware of here on Wareable. Because we're always keeping an eye on smartwatch and fitness tracker prices, we can spot a genuine discount from a dud.

Some other media outlets aren't as clued up as us on the latest wearables – so we know the difference between old obsolete devices that are being flogged off, and genuine bargains. No-one wants Cyber Monday buyer's remorse.

During Cyber Monday retailers can give false or misleading discounts. That's because they might quote the original launch prices when showing the discount, making it look much bigger than it is.

Beyond constantly monitoring prices, there are tools to help you look at the historical price of a product. That way you can know if the discount is genuine.

A great browser extension is Keepa, which embeds a price history graph onto Amazon pages so you can instantly see previous prices. When you're being swamped with Amazon Black Friday deals, it'll save you loads of time.

The other thing to remember is to make sure you buy something worthwhile. Black Friday is a chance for retailers to clear out stock of products that aren't selling very well, perhaps because they're just not very good.
