Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 are set to get the best new features from the Watch 6, as the One UI 5 Watch update rolls across the range.
After the launch of the all-new Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic we reported that older Samsung smartwatches would also get the latest and greatest features.
One UI Watch 5 is the Samsung OS that runs on the Galaxy Watch, but it’s really a reskinned version of Wear OS 4.
That means that the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 4 will get the newest sleep tracking features, as well as heart rate zone training and Samsung Wallet.
The Galaxy Watch 6 was a minimal update, but we loved our time with the revamped sleep tracking. We found it to be one of the best smartwatch sleep monitors we’ve used, with data that seriously resembled the excellent Whoop 4.0.
There’s also advanced sleep coaching, and the watch will assign you a chronotype sleep animal to help you interpret your habits. There’s also a four-week sleep coaching program available.
The heart rate zone training is also well implemented and easy to follow and has managed to tread the line by making the reminders to say in the zone a light touch.
However, the big question raised by the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 getting the new features is whether the Galaxy Watch 6 is recommendable at all.
The Watch 5 is already subject to some tasty discounts, and now it’s got all the Watch 6’s best features, why pay more?
9to5Google reports that the One UI Watch 5 update is rolling out now for Galaxy Watch 5 users, and Watch 4 shouldn’t be too far behind.
